TWICE AS NICE!

Entering the season, Mike Rice talked about having six seniors and six freshmen. He was fudging the numbers a bit – Gary Wallace is only a junior – but his point was sound. He had a team that only looked experienced, that needed the seniors to teach the freshmen early and often about how to play Division I basketball. He expected his senior captains, Rob Robinson and Jimmy Langhurst, to shoulder the load.

Wednesday night, a trio of freshmen – with a little help from last year’s hero – handed Robert Morris their second straight Northeast Conference championship with a 52-50 win over Quinnipiac.

Tournament MVP Karon Abraham scored 16 points, Russell Johnson scored 9, and Velton Jones hit a leaner in the lane to give RMU the lead for good. Last year’s hero, Dallas Green, had nine points, blocked a James Feldeine three-pointer with eight seconds left, and hit two free throws down the stretch to give RMU the win. A last second heave by James Johnson fell short for Quinnipiac.

“We talk about perseverance a lot.  Things weren’t exactly in an offensive flow tonight, but it’s about perseverance,” Mike Rice said. “The hearts of our guys matched last year.  I didn’t think anything would match last year, but they did.”

In a mirror image from last year’s tight finale against Mount St. Mary’s, Robert Morris and Quinnipiac were locked in a defensive battle all game long. Quinnipiac led 25-23 at the half, but never found space to run its offense.

“To hold us to six field goals in the second half and 35 percent shooting is phenomenal,” Quinnipaic head coach Tom Moore said. “That was my fear coming into the game because of my great respect for Robert Morris’ defense.  They can really, really wear you down defensively.”

Outside of Green, the three seniors who dressed combined for just 8 points. Robinson scored just 3, but he did haul down 7 rebounds and held Justin Rutty to a relatively calm 12 point, 10 rebound night. James Feldeine had 17 to lead Quinnipiac, and Nwigwe and Abraham teamed up to shut down James Johnson (5 points), who ripped the Colonials for 28 in the regular season.

“We defend very well and we keep coming at you,” Rice said. “That’s what you need to do in a league like this.  The teams that rank first in field goal percentage defense win these leagues a majority of the time.”

Robert Morris will go back to the NCAA Tournament for a league leading seventh time, and they’ll do it as the first repeat champions in the NEC since Rider in 1993-1994.

“Let’s try to go and win this time,” Rob Robinson said. “Shock the world.”

And for the freshmen who led them?

“It’s a dream,” Abraham said of the tournament berth.  “I was a boy growing up and didn’t think I’d make it this far.”

Colonials Corner didn’t make it to the NEC championship, but we are planning on going to the NCAA Tournament, provided it’s within driving distance.

I doubt that Adam because he will be basically all RMU has after the graduations this year and all teams will be keying on him.

I was wondering how Rice got away with his antics near the end of the game in which he had to be held back by his assts.? He appeared to me like he was going after the refs to cause them physical harm. From what I heard, he did more than what Jim Ferry did for LIU up there. Just think, if he didn’t get away with that, he could have been the reason RMU lost. It also could have ruined his chances for a job at a bigtime school. He lucked out yet again. He was precariously close. I’m sure most of you RMU fans would be calling for his departure tonight if that caused them to lose. The only thing that is important is a win right? No matter how it happens?

Someone from Monmouth just told me that Langhurst will be back next year. Is that true? I predicted he would, I am quite sure that Rice worked it out somehow.

  4. 5

Robert Morris is either in the process of or about to begin the process of petitioning the NCAA for a fifth year of eligibility for Langhurst. Nothing has been decided yet.

Well I hope he comes back. He seemed like a nice guy when I had a few words with him when I went to the restroom at Sewall a few weeks ago. It is kind of strange that players use the same restroom as fans. Hey Andrew, would he start or has his position been overtaken by the new guys? You do not like me do you Andrew?

RMU is getting a lot of ‘love’ on Mike & Mike this morning.
I think a lot has to do with ‘Stats’ going to QU and not caring about QU losing.

Andrew, is there a way to block Richard from posting before he embarrasses Mount St. Mary’s fans anymore?
    Congrats to the Colonials.

Actually, i think you are the closet RMU fan. I have observed you cheering them on more than you have the Mount. You sure do not seem like any Mount fan that I know of and my girlfriend and I have most likely been to more games the past 2 years than any other Mount fan. I would not want any true ‘Mount fan’ to be cheering on RMU. Most true Mount fans have nothing good to say about RMU. Talk about embarassing, you definitely would not fit in amongst our fans who sit behind the Mount bench at road games.

    • Richard #
      11

No other Mount fan has had an issue with what I say. Most of the true fans either laugh or cheer with me about most things I say. It is strange that you would have an issue. With the way you cheer on RMU, us true Mount fans would rather you not support the Mount at all because that would be hypocritical for you to do so.

    • Richard #

This is too everyone- you get a new perspective if you watch most of all your team’s games in person rather than on TV, web, or radio. By being able to see not only the Mount but other teams as well live for more than a couple games, it enables one to see things they wouldn’t if watching it from afar. I would have never thought some of the things I do if I did not see it up close and personal. I can understand why many of you are offended about what I say too, it all depends on one’s view on things. I can forgive some who are offended because i would be too if I watched most of the games in a media format. You just are unable to see many things that is going on unless you observe them in person.

First of all Richard, RMU will be one of the favorites to win it all again next year, be it with coach Rice or coach Toole running the show. Our three “skill” position players are all back as sophomores, say it again sophomores in Velton Jones, Karon Abraham, and Russell Johnson. Gary Wallace and possibly Jimmy Langhurst will also be back and we already brought in a couple top notch recruits. Face it RMU will be good at least for the next three seasons. Face it RMU is the best team in the NEC and coach Rice is the best coach in the NEC. We won it all without a 1st team all NEC performer, while Quinnipiac had two. We put 80 on your Mount team. I told you they couldn’t run with us. Quinnipiac can run with us so we locked them down to 50 points, after they scored 87 on us last time and we were the only team to beat them on their court and that place was packed, loud and raucous last night. RMU has hard nosed, tough, talented kids that can play on the road. We deserved that title and get used to us being around for a while. Since you are on our sight so much I’m starting to think that you are a closet RMU fan. Make the break and change teams, you know you want to.

    • Richard #
      14

Haha, that was hilarious thinking I am an RMU fan. I go to most of teams sites that have blogs similar to this. I’d rather go thru a decade without a win for MSM before I’d make your ‘change’. So do you think that MSM is going down for awhile while RMU will remain much better than them and continue to win championships, even if Rice leaves?

      • Bob Larson #
        15

Yes we will continue to be very good and win championships. Hopefully we keep Rice for at least another year, but if Toole replaces Rice we will be fine. The Mount loses Goode and Beidler, but Atupem and 1-for-24 Cajou are back., Milan needs to bring in some good recruits or he is looking at 5th or 6th place. But yes we will continue to be much better than them.

    • CC #
      16

      Well said.

    • Richard #
      17

I can understand why RMU scored 80. The Mount basically gave up. Kelly Beidler was asking the team why too, I sat right behind the bench. He said ‘Cmon man we aint even playin’, why you givin’ up?’ Heck i’d give up too if every time I tried to do something the other team knew exactly what it was. It isn’t even any use to play a game against another who knows what you are going to do nearly every time you have the ball. I blame Milan Brown a little because he never changed the game plan much all year.

    • Richard #
      18

So i would not be very proud if I beat a team who basically gave up.

    • Bob Larson #
      19

Your team quit not ours. RMU is too mentally tough to quit. Why do you think we win all those road games.

      • Richard #
        20

Well buddy, I would quit too if I played ball and my opponent knew nearly everything I was going to do, that would be like working for nothing or being a slave. Basically it is almost senseless to go out and play and make a fool of one’s self. As I said I put a lot of blame on MSM’s coaching staff for not devising different game strategies. I mean what do you expect if you play a team 15 times in the past few years, of course they are going to know most of what is coming to them. If my team beat another in the manner RMU beat them I would not feel honored at all. I am really glad that my team does not call the players on other teams on public record such things as roaches and whatever else. That is yet another thing that shows you a team’s character. Hey Andrew, Raff of the Mount Fan Blog and I were wondering how the bowling trip was paid for. Was it paid individually by the players or all by Rice, lol? Raff is the one who brought it to my attention. I am not really worried about something as miniscule as that, lol. I hope Quinnipiac wins some in the NIT, I will pull for them until I see them exhibit overly poor sportsmanship. I hope that RMU plays Maryland or another team that I like. If they play another team like Kentucky, Duke, Pitt, etc. that is similar to RMU it will be of no interest for me to watch it.

      • Richard #
        21

In reference to your comment about MSM’s recruiting-Do you think that the players they got coming in aren’t very good? You never know, Justin Burrell might be another Karon. He plays in a very competitive area- same place as Eric Hayes of Maryland and averages around 22 a game. The other guy Donte Morales comes from a bigtime HS program too that plays the likes of Oak Hill regularly. I actually think that MSM’s chemistry may be better without Goode because Cajou got jealous of him stealing the show. That is one big reason for Cajou’s demise this season. Goode’s own mom told me. One of the biggest problems I have with MSM is the coach. How could he keep letting RMU step all over him, even though he knew what was going on? One coach admitted to me even on last Sunday that he knew what RMU was doing. He acts like he is scared of Rice or something.

    • Bob Larson #
      22

But I am very proud because we took away their will and made them quit. Quitters, I hope I never have to say that about RMU.

      • Richard #
        23

So, are you saying that MSM sucks? As I said I would not be too proud if my team beat a team that quit. Almost the whole conference sucks other than RMU according to what I have seen RMU fans say.

      • Richard #
        24

So you do not care what RMU did to make them quit? Is it that, all you care about is that you won? Last year the RMU win was a little more legit, yet still peculiar. The difference that I see when MSM plays other teams compared to when they play RMU is really appalling, even if MSM wins.

    • Bob Larson #
      25

No you said they sucked we’re great and we took your team’s heart and made them quit.

      • Richard #
        26

There is no heart to use if a team knows exactly what you are going to do. it is literally pointless to have any heart. Exactly, you surely took their heart, swiped it would be more accurate. I just wanted to see if any of you think that MSM is just a terrible team as far as a reason why they lose like they have the past 2 years.

Rice would probably love to play against Calipari and meet him. He would probably like to compare notes as well as maybe pick up a few more pointers for when he goes to a bigtime team. An RMU-Kentucky game would be very ideal as it would pit coaches that are very similar to each other.

  12. Real Team #

Who cares about a conference as sorry as the NorthEast? That conference’s teams are a pee-poor excuse for a being considered in Division 1. The teams in the NorthEast are borderline Division 2 schools anyway, with the level of play. It is proven in the RPI rankings that the teams in NorthEast conference are irrelevant compared to most of the rest of college basketball. I mean, what is the big deal. You people need a real Division 1 team to pull for. No major accomplishment to win the NorthEast conference. Get real.

      Dear Real Team,

Thank you for that dose of reality. How dare we celebrate such a meaningless victory. We are so fortunate that you, a real sports fan, a Big-Time sports fan, would even take the time to visit Colonials Corner and offer such wisdom to its readers. Thank you so much! However, in the future, please don’t go to such trouble. There really is no need for you to belittle yourself visiting this site anymore.

    33

Hey real team get a real life. As an alum of RMU i am proud of their accomplishments and it is a major accomplishment. Only 65 teams go to the NCAA Tournament and we’re one of them. The NEC has in the past and would destroy most DII teams. There are some great athletes in the NEC and even some former NBA players from the NEC. Until you practice or play with these guys you have no clue how good they are. The only thing the NEC lacks is overall big men compared to the bigger conferences. RMU in the past has beaten Boston College, West Virginia (twice), dayton and put 105 points on Texas A&M in a win. All of these games of course were on the road. Stop hating and being disrespectful. These guys worked hard and deserve all their accolades. If you don’t respect what they do then stay off this site and go watch Duke or kentucky play.

    • Real Team #
      34

There are more Division 2 players that are pro than from your pitiful conference. Boston College almost lost to another of your weak teams that year, Sacred Heart. They had a losing record at that. When the hell did Robet Morris ever beat WVU? It must have been ages ago when things were more even. Same for Texas A&M. Dont give me that lacking big men crap. Teams could be very small in height and still crush your NorthEast. Why does your team keep getting blasted by Pitt every year?

    • Bob Larson #
      35

Real team things are “more even” now more than ever because more players from BCS conferences are going pro after one or two years. Please educate yourself on these subjects before you continue to make a fool out of yourself. Also RMU beats Villanova if not for the refs bailing Nova out with those phantom calls.

I am so glad that I am not a fan of a team that lacks class and integrity, the way other certain winning teams do and I am glad that none of my team’s players do not throw a fit and bust chairs up that belongs to other teams. While losing is always disappointing to athletes, my team takes the losses in stride rather than get a big attitude and throw a tantrum. Fans who like teams that operate in that manner must be just as classless and have poor values. A team can win all they want, but it does not mean I will respect them unless they won legitimately as in the case of Kentucky and other schools. It truly is reassuring to know that I am a supporter of such a team that carries itself so well after a loss or something not going exactly their way all the time. Fans of teams that do not exhibit good character, if losing, show their true colors themselves and cannot be a very high caliber person as far as their values go. Oh well, to each their own, I am so glad that I support the team that I do other than rooting for a program that is evil. The messed up part is though- most of the successful teams and those that have the most fans are the evil ones. It even shows you the caliber of the majority of this country’s society and their values for so many to be advocates of teams that demonstrate poor sportsmanship.

  15. 37

    Real Team,
You probably won’t understand this because you’re more interested in what the ‘real teams’ are doing, and we’re glad that you came down to slum here in the “low-rent” district of Division 1. We truly are humbled that you would come down from the lofty heights of the Mt Sinai of the Big East/Big Ten/ACC or whatever conference to which you subscribe to enlighten us poor unwashed thralls with your hard earned nuggets of wisdom. No doubt our days and our very existence has been enhanced a hundred, nay, a thousand-fold by the pearls of knowledge that flowed from your superior mind through the Internet to arrive on our little backwater on the south-end of the north facing moose that is NCAA Division 1 basketball. But if you may be so willing to be enlightened as you are to enlighten, please permit me, one of admittedly inferior intelligence as compared to one as yourself to humbly explain why your logic is somewhat flawed.

You see, Real Team, unlike the power conferences that send five or six teams to the NCAA tournament, the Northeast only sends one. What fun is it to watch a team in the Big East or the ACC win one or two games in their conference tournament, when they know their ticket to the Dance is already punched. A team like Pitt only has to win one maybe two games in the Big East to go to the NCAA’s. If they win the Big East Tournament, that’s gravy, their biggest focus is March Madness. They already know they’re going, it’s just a matter of what seed, where they play and who they play. And even though they intend to win as many games as possible to go as far in the Big East tournament to get the best seed as possible, they have that fallback in that they belong to a conference that sends half its members to the NCAA’s. We in the Northeast Conference don’t have that luxury. Only ONE team goes, so the conference tournament games mean much more to us than they do to PITT or Duke, or Georgetown. One slip up in the NEC tournament and like Quinnipiac is experiencing, and what RMU experienced three yrs ago, they’ll have to settle for the NIT, if they get an invite at all. We don’t have a fallback, so our teams have to work much harder to get what your ‘real teams’ take for granted, so for us who choose to follow the small conference teams, I dare say that March Madness means more to us than it does to ‘Real Fans’ like yourself. Yeah, Robert Morris will probably get killed in the first game. Coach Rice will coach this team as if he’s expecting to win the National Chaampionship, These players will play as if they intend to go to the National Championship. Any basketball team worth their salt will do that. But for us, the majority of the fun is getting to the tournament and whatever happens, happens. This is as good as it gets for us and anything more makes it all the more fun. And when your ‘real team’ gets bounced from the tournament, you and all the other ‘real fans’ will commiserate and analyze and complain and moan and groan about why your ‘real team’ blew it, while we will be excited that our team did what they were expected to do, and outdid their expectations should they progress further than we expected.

Lesson Over, you may now go back to the “real teams.”

    • Real Team #
      38

Your teams do not have that luxury because they don’t deserve it. They are not good enough. Your teams are merely in Divison 1 to serve as fodder for my teams and to be a selling point for prospective students and fans. You responded to me like you were writing a novel. Your teams should separate from the big boys and play in their own league for it is a waste of time to play any of you. It is not right that teams in conferences like yours take up space for other teams that are much better than them. Your automatic bid teams dilute the tournament. Go play in your own tournament or go back to Divison 2 or NAIA.

Why don’t you make your concerns known to the organization that could make your suggestions happen, namely, the NCAA. Coming on to a blog like this and making your statements known here doesn’t do anyone any good. Why are you here? Obviously, you have nothing but disgust and contempt for us and consider us and our teams to be nothing more than “fodder” for your teams. So why are you content to root around in the mud with us pigs when you can be in the mansion whooping it up with your real teams?? Have you lost your way?? Do you like slumming? Are you so bored with the world of the ‘real teams’ that you desire to see what life is like on the other side of the tracks?? I don’t understand your presence here. Please enlighten one who is so uneducated as myself?

      • 40

You say that our automatic bids dilute the tournament. How? In the end, the usual suspects end up in the Final Four year after year after year ad infinitum. Most likely, the same teams will end up in the Final Four even if all the one-bid conferences were eliminated and replaced with teams that are more to your liking. I don’t see how throwing a bone to the one-bid conferences dilutes the tournament experience for the teams that you and yours follow. Frankly, I think it gets kinda boring to see Duke, UNC, Kansas, et al in the Final Four every year. I still don’t see what you are so bent out of shape because we had our fifteen minutes of fame on ESPN. At the end of the day, it really doesn’t matter to us what you think, we’re going to still pull for our small college teams and enjoy the fun and joy they bring. So move along, nothing for you to see here.

Awww Adam I love you. If I am acting like a sore loser then maybe it is because I have gone to too many RMU games recently and it is rubbing off on me. I know what I know so whatever RMU does anymore does not bother me as much as you think. It’s not just RMU that pisses me off anyway. I am just trying to justify why MSM quit that is all. the reason why we all love mid major bball is for the love of the game not to play well and goto the nba but its to play for the tourney get on espn…to say that nec games are fixed is redic. and to say bc ur team gave up were not suppose to be happy about the win is also redic cmommmmmmmmmmmmmm man

    • Richard #
      45

I did not say it was fixed. I just do not appreciate RMU’s method of strategy. I wouldn’t be too happy about beating a team that gave up-that is all I mean by it. Hey that’s on you guys, if you get hyped up about something like that then you need help. If we won and I knew RMU gave up I would not feel proud of the win at all. MSM needs to step it up and stop letting things overwhelm them like that. They knew damn well what was gonna happen so they should have prepared for it and made changes. Instead Brown backed off.

      • 46

Unfortunately, it’s not Robert Morris’s responsibility to get Mount St. Mary’s up for the biggest game of the season and to keep them sufficiently motivated to give RMU a quality game. That task falls to the Mount’s coaching staff and the players. Why should be Robert Morris be guilty for beating a team that “gave up?” They can only play the team that steps out on the floor to oppose them. If RMU is beating MSM by a handy margin, and MSM decides to throw in the towel, does that mean that RMU is supposed to just say “Well, we’ve kicked their butts enough, we’ll send in the walkons?” As RMU has experienced, all too much this season, a comfortable lead is not something to be counted on in the game of basketball. It’s RMU’s job to win the game, not to feel sorry for the losing team, after all, no one felt sorry for RMU when they lost. That’s sports.

Richard you really are a disgrace. RMU knew Mount St. Mary’s plays? Big deal wow. What do you think teams scout for? It’s not about if the other team knows your plays it’s all about running them so they can’t stop them. Stop making Mount St. Mary’s look bad with stupid comments. Stay in Richmond.
Why does everything keep saying Toole, is he the number 1 replacement in your opinions? Or is that just who you all would most want to replace Rice? Which one is Toole, what does he look like? And how many people do you think Rice will take with him or want to go with him?

Read my post at the fan blog and then you can see what I mean, RMU (Mount) fan. It’s the last post in Raff’s first blog. I said they RMU executed their system good, but it is not that damn difficult if you play a team 15 times to figure what the other is going to do all the time. So the problem lies in not making changes or adjustments with your plays that you run all the time. Talk about stupid, it is only common sense, do you have any? How is that making Mount look bad/they are the ones who are playing, not me. It is not that MSM is a lot worse as far as talent goes than RMU, actually they are more talented. If MSM was like far out west and only played RMU once, then MSM would win by about 12-15 pts. Just don’t give so much credit to RMU and their coaching strategy, it’s not like they have never seen MSM before. Get some common sense or go to Moon and stay there, I’d rather stay in Richmond if I continue to see MSM falling behind the curve. I do really like VCU.

The theory being bandied about is that if/when Rice leaves, he’ll take one assistant with him while associate head coach Toole – http://www.rmucolonials.com/ViewArticle.dbml?SPSID=59500&SPID=6516&DB_OEM_ID=13900&ATCLID=204866003&Q_SEASON=2009 – takes over here with the other assistant as his top guy. That’s pure speculation though. The benefits would be that it would continue the Martelli/Dixon/Rice coaching tree, which obviously has done real well for RMU. If it’s not Coach Toole, then in the search process, I would not be surprised to see RMU look for someone with connections to that coaching tree.

Guess you didn’t see the asterisk next to his name signaling that Grasso is an interim head coach. Grasso was an assistant under Dereck Whittenburg, who was fired in December. Grasso took over at that point. He is definitely a candidate for the job, but as of now, he’s just a placeholder.

Grasso used to play for Quinnipiac. I remember seeing him play. He sucked too

      • 57

Not sure a 1,000 point scorer could be classified as a player who “sucked”, but to each his own…

Ok Andrew, but, once again—-I am going by what I actually saw with my very own two eyes. Whenever I seen Grasso play at the arena, he turned the ball over a lot and was a terrible shooter- something that you don’t expect a guard to be. I am sure Rice would easily trump Grasso if Fordham desired him. Grasso will be a coach somewhere though, but he needs to build his kitty before he can compete with Rice. Perhaps Grasso should be an assistant under Dixon, like Rice first. Something is weird going on at Pitt because they surely should not have won so many games this year with their talent level and what I seen with my own eyes out of them they were not that great. Just like RMU. Maybe I should direct my disdain toward Dixon instead, hmmm

Most of you guys think Beidler and Goode sucks and they are over that point level. Hahahahahahaha.

      • 60

I don’t think anyone here would say that about Goode or Beidler, especially Goode. He’s torched Robert Morris too many times in the past.

Ok, Andrew I am glad that you respect him. I was joking, if you seen the hahas. Andrew, and others here, sometimes you cannot take what I say so much to heart and get so angry at me. I do not sit here and post with a serious intent look on my face. I am quite lighthearted when posting in here, so please calm your hormones people. I absolutely love your journalism and all of the facts, links, and insight you provide to us, Andrew.

Hey Carter I went to MSM, so I know your name is for the drummer of the Dave Matthews Band, and they suck too. On another note, Villanova is gonna eat RMU alive!!!! Villanova is actually one of the bigtime teams that I like and root for! I am so glad RMU didnt play Duke because I would not watch it. now I can sit and holler for Scottie Reynolds to teach Karon how to hit threes in a bigtime atmosphere. Pena will take Rob Rob or Green and knock their egos down a few pegs.

First of all to “Real Team” do your homework. RMU beat Teas A&M 105-86 in the first roind of the Marshall tournament and beat WVU back-to-back years in Morgantown under Gale Cattlet. The second time we beat WVU they went to the sweet 16, oh yeah we went to the tourney for the 3rd and 4th time back then. To Richard, those grapes must taste awfully sour, face it RMU is in the big dance and MSM is not. There is no shame if we lose to Villanova, but RMU usually gives a good showing in the tourney. We beat Georgia Southern, lost to Purdue by 2 and to Kansas by 8, unlike MSM which was destroyed all 3 times it went. Finally what does North Carolina, UCLA, UConn and Arizona all have in commom? None of them are going to the tourney, but RMU is!!!!

You know, you sound just like a Steelers fan talking to us Ravens fans about how many SB’s they won. Those close wins and close losses by RMU were ages ago. Back when the gap in talent was less of a margin. Well, at least MSM was a National Champion, Div 2 or not! Back then Div 2 was more talented too comparatively speaking and in relation to the times. As far as you talking about those bigtime teams, well, UConn, and UNC(I hate them) both have a postseason win already. Something of which RMU will soon learn is all a fantasy. Until recently, Tex A&M has blown bigtime thruout its history. I would be glad for RMU making it if , it was not for reasons that I do not want to repeat. Yes I am and always will be a little appalled at MSM losing, due to the way things went down. Other than all that I will be glued to the TV now, and reading about all the teams on the net. On another note—- I went to the VCU-GWU game in the CBI last night in DC. My VCU won, and it was a very entertaining game, although I still miss one of my all time favorite guards, Eric Maynor. It was still a beautiful day and I got to walk around the reflecting pool down at the mall before the game. The GWU arena was very nice.
